Drinks that are good for your teeth: avoid stains

Coffee is probably the most common beverage people reach for in the morning to get them ready for their day, but coffees and teas stain your teeth. For some, the thought of going without their morning pick-me-up is unfathomable, and it may even lead to irritation and put them in a bad mood.

While caffeine does have the ability to perk you up and help you feel more energized, drinking too much coffee and other beverages will stain your teeth. We aren't suggesting you cut caffeine out completely - we still want you to be happy - but we also want you to feel and look good.

Best drinks for your teeth and forget about stains

If you're looking for a way to reduce your caffeine and/or coffee consumption, then you are probably looking for some healthy alternatives to coffee. You want something that tastes good, gives you a boost of energy and keeps your teeth as stain free as possible. Here is a list of some drinks you should try if you are looking for an alternative to coffee that doesn’t stain teeth:

Smoothies

It has been said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but many people don't take the time to eat anything before they leave the house. Smoothies are a great option when it comes to meeting your nutritional needs and giving yourself a boost of energy.

The ingredients you add to your smoothie will directly impact how much energy you have throughout the day. The protein you get from the yogurt or by adding protein powder can keep you focused and energized. You'll also be getting a serving of fruits and/or vegetables, fiber, carbohydrates and antioxidants when you consume a smoothie in the morning, which is the fuel your body needs to keep moving. Smoothies can be healthy alternatives to coffee for energy too!

Apple Cider Vinegar

Another healthy alternative to coffee in the morning is Apple Cider Vinegar. Drinking apple cider vinegar straight away in the morning is a great way to boost your energy levels without consuming caffeine. It is made from fermented apples and contains ingredients that naturally wake you up. The amino acids in apple cider vinegar help reduce lactic acid build-up, which relieves muscle pain and fatigue.

Although apple cider vinegar is a healthy alternative to coffee, it can be hard to swallow - literally. It has a bit of a sour taste to it. If you don't want to drink it straight, you can add a couple of teaspoons to water. Not only can you drink apple cider vinegar in the morning, but since it doesn't contain caffeine, you can drink it any time during the day when you need a pick-me-up.

Golden Milk

This beverage gets its name because the turmeric, ginger, cinnamon and pinch of black pepper turn milk a yellow color. If you can't have dairy, you can make this drink with a non-dairy alternative. If you prefer, you can even add honey for some added sweetness. You then warm the beverage and enjoy.

Golden milk can boost your energy level by reducing fatigue. It has also been found that the spices reduce inflammation, increase brain function, reduce cell damage and improve your mood. It's a tasty, natural way to get ready for your day without having to rely on caffeine.

Lemon or Coconut Water

One of the easiest beverages to make that can increase your energy levels and is a healthy alternative to coffee is lemon water. The great part about this option is that it also has zero calories, and it can help keep you hydrated.

Lemon water contains vitamin C, which helps boost your immune system. To get the most out of this beverage, you'll want to squeeze half a lemon into one cup of cold water (ideally in an insulated water bottle to keep it cold longer). If you are using lemon juice, this is approximately one tablespoon.

Coconut water has the same impact on your body as lemon water, but it has a sweeter flavor. You get to decide if you prefer tart or sweet flavors for starting your day without having to rely on caffeine. If you decide to go with sweet, you can buy coconut water from a variety of different stores or online.
